Why Your Home is Perfect

Why your Home is Perfect:

I know what you’re going to say.  You’re hesitant to have me come over because your dishes aren’t done, the kitchen table has crap all over it, and your kid’s rooms are disaster’s.  You’re going to  say that your house cleaner needs to do X, Y, and Z before you feel remotely comfortable having pictures taken at your house. That you’ve been meaning to finish planting the Sky Nursery plants that have been sitting in their black plastic containers for two weeks (but at least they’re happy getting watered quite often from the rain).

Your house is too small, your couch looks dated and tired, and there are fingerprints on the wall. Oh, and you need the windows washed.

I get it.  I totally do.  Because this is exactly what I said and was most worried about when we got our photos taken at home.  That my house wouldn’t be photo-worthy or good enough.  But you know what?  None of that matters.  Not one bit of it.  I now feel it’s actually quite the opposite.

1. Why your Home is Perfect: Your home is the heartbeat of your family.

2. Why your Home is Perfect: Your home is your reality.

Your home is an extension of yourself and your family.  It’s where you laugh and cry and eat and get sick and cuddle up at night and stay up late watching movies, talking and eating popcorn.  It’s where you share your happiest moments and fears and frustrations and everything in between. Each picture and kid’s piece of art you have up tells a story about you and your truth.  And can you do any of that in a clean perfect Sunset Magazine home? Nope.

3. Why your Home is Perfect:  It’s full of your personalities:

When I walk into your home I see personality.  I see light and love and vitality, I see busy, active and happy kids and parents doing this thing called life. I learn what you and your kids are into, what types of adventures you like to have, if you’re more of a Room & Board or Pottery Barn family (or a mix of both like me), what you’re favorite colors are, and where you most like to hang out together.

So please invite me over and don’t worry about any of the “things”.  We will walk around and I will find the prettiest light and angles to highlight your beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind family in your beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind home.  I promise, you won’t regret it. (Plus I love to take photos of your fur babies too!)xx,

Kim
