As a Seattle maternity photographer, I always look forward to meeting new expecting couples and learning about their stories. This story starts from the other side of the world. He is from New Zealand, and she is from Ontario, and now they are living the dream in Seattle, WA, worlds away from their families. But that doesn’t matter, because a new baby boy draws grandma’s in for miles!
I had the pleasure of photographing their mini-maternity session at downtown Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park and Myrtle Edwards Park, their favorite stomping ground before they moved further north in the ‘burbs. They asked to include their sweet old golden retriever, and you know I can’t resist having dogs in sessions. I always say they are part of the family too!
The rain stopped for our short 30-minute photo session. It was just enough time for a stroll around with a stop at their favorite tree where they used to picnic. I used my Contax 645 medium format film camera andKodak Portra 800 film.
I can’t wait to meet baby “smidge” for their in-home newborn photo session soon!
