Photographing a Family with Kids and a Dog Inside with Flash : One Light Many Looks (Part 12)

Photographing a family with two little kids and a dog inside with flash seems downright scary, doesn’t it? Especially in the middle of winter? I get a lot of questions all the time with photographers thinking babys or our fur baby animals will be scared of the flash burst. While I have found that to be true with dogs or cats a few times, in my many years shooting lifestyle in home sessions with flash and fur babies, it’s not the case.

In my latest One Light Many Looks series, I’m showing you the variety of images I got using 2 different flash units in their living room and nursery to get correct exposure. And yes, one image is digital. Let me know if you have any questions!

Now that January is here and the crazy holidays are over, it’s time to learn something new! If learning how to use a simple flash unit inside is something you’d like to master in the new year, I can help get you started. Grab my free 12-page Flash Transformation Guide below. I reveal 5 different before and after flash scenarios, with the backstory and more, including a Flash Flowchart!

These look so great! I’m learning artificial light, can’t wait to try
