Hey there! I feel like I’m on a roll using artificial light for my in-home family lifestyle sessions. Below is another example of how you can photograph a family with teens with one strobe and a big softbox to evenly light your subjects while shooting from a variety of angles — without moving the light at all! This is a blog series I call One Light Many Looks if you want to check more out.
These images are front-lit and side-lit with the strobe and I was moving all over the place. You can see that there was a window behind them and also camera left, but it still didn’t provide quite enough light to shoot Fuji400h without pushing it, while also keeping my shutter speed at a reasonable speed to prevent movement.

Check out more examples of how I use artificial light in lifestyle photography (#lightingforlifestyle) for more ideas and if you’d like to learn, I am teaching a class on this at Click Away in February! I also offer mentoring sessions and you can inquire below.
