New Blogging Workflow for Stylecloud & Pic-Time Users

Today I want to talk about using a new blogging workflow for Stylecloud and Pic-Time users. (If you’d rather watch the tutorial, click here to jump to it!) These are two of my favorite partners and so I’m thrilled about this new collaboration that is going to save me a ton of time! If you’re not familiar with them, Stylecloud is a company that designs websites for the WordPress Kadence theme. I migrated to them after Flothemes stopped supporting their websites last year. And Pic-Time is my gallery, slideshow, and print shop host, but they provide so much more than that. They also store my file backups, host my annual Mother’s Day and Black Friday sales campaigns, and much more. I love both services and if you want to check them out, you will not regret it!

So when I heard that they were partnering up to seamlessly integrate Pic-Time galleries into my WordPress site I was thrilled! Gone are the days of finding, exporting, re-naming and uploading separate web-ready files for blog posts. Integrating Pic-Time with your WordPress site using StyleCloud can significantly enhance your blogging workflow, making it more efficient and SEO-friendly. Today I’ll walk you through how easy the set-up was for me, and how the new blogging workflow works for this blog post. The full step-by-step guide on Stylecloud’s site to streamline the process:

Pic-Time Gallery Plugin from Stylecloud

1. Install the StyleCloud Pic-Time Gallery Plugin

Begin by installing the StyleCloud Pic-Time gallery plugin on your WordPress site. After activation, navigate to the Pic-Time Setup section in your WordPress dashboard. Enter the license key provided with your download and connect to your Pic-Time account. This seamless integration allows you to access all your Pic-Time images directly within WordPress.

2. Create a ‘Favorites’ Gallery in Pic-Time

To efficiently manage your portfolio, set up a dedicated gallery in Pic-Time to store your favorite images from each shoot. This practice simplifies updating your portfolio and aids in curating content for year-end reviews or special blog posts.

3. Adjust Watermark Settings in Pic-Time

If you utilize watermarks on your images, it’s advisable to set the watermark option in Pic-Time to ‘Flexible.’ This setting ensures that while watermarks appear on client galleries, they won’t be imported into your WordPress site, maintaining a clean and professional look.

4. Utilize the Kadence Advanced Gallery Block

Within your WordPress editor, the Kadence Advanced Gallery Block allows you to incorporate images from your Pic-Time galleries seamlessly. By clicking the Pic-Time icon within this block, you can select images to display on any page or post. You have the option to either display images directly from Pic-Time or import them into your WordPress Media Library. Importing is recommended as it resizes images to 1600 pixels wide and preserves filenames, enhancing your site’s SEO.

5. Leverage StyleCloud’s Blog Layouts

StyleCloud offers over 350 layouts and sections that can be utilized in both pages and blog posts. These pre-designed layouts, combined with the Pic-Time integration, enable you to create visually appealing and cohesive blog posts effortlessly.

6. Implement an AI Plugin for Alt Text

To boost your SEO further, consider adding an AI-powered plugin that automatically generates alt text for your images. Stylecloud’s blog post recommends one. This ensures all images have descriptive alt attributes, improving accessibility and search engine rankings.

7. Use an Image Compression Plugin

Incorporate an image compression plugin to optimize your images’ file sizes without compromising quality. This practice enhances site speed and overall user experience, which are critical factors for SEO. Stylecloud has a recommendation for this as well.

By following these steps, you can create a streamlined and efficient blogging workflow, integrating Pic-Time seamlessly with your WordPress site using StyleCloud. This integration not only simplifies content management but also enhances your site’s performance and SEO.
