Centering Motherhood Through Lifestyle Photography

Spring is a beautiful time of year for so many reasons, one of them being that Mother’s Day is May! Motherhood is something I always take time to talk about– this is just one previous post– because it’s so important. Centering motherhood through my work is near and dear to my heart, and I wanted to share some reasons why.

1. Mom’s Don’t Get Enough Credit

I will shout this from the rooftops until the world stops spinning. Mom’s do not get the credit and appreciation they deserve, across the board. I like to make sure that when working with me, no matter the session, they feel celebrated. I offer Motherhood minis, but in all my sessions, I want a big focus to be on the mamas. Of course, that’s not to say I disregard dads! Parenting is hard, thankless work, and it really does take a village.

2. You Should Enjoy This Special Family Time

All mamas work so hard for their families, day in and day out. There’s also a huge sentimentality that comes with motherhood, and life gets in the way of spending as much time as we’d like with our families. During our sessions, I love watching the unfettered happiness on every moms face. Between sports and school and extracurriculars, we don’t always get to press pause and take in precious moments with our kiddos. Sessions like these allow moms to get moments they’ll cherish for years to come.

3. See Your Love From Another Perspective

What I mean by this is getting lifestyle photos allows you to see what your family looks like from the outside. You get to look at your beautiful family and marvel at all the love you created. Children are a reflection of us, and when you spend time memorializing these precious moments with them, you can see it so clearly. Looking back at the photos, you can hear the laughter and remember the fun you all had together. Lifestyle photography that centers motherhood is intimate and special, and it’s what I love to do.
