My fascination with photographing families on film continues. Meet the Willmers – a fantastic, fun, humorous and adventurous family. They just moved back from a year-long adventure in England! So cool! I love that there are families out there willing to break up the norm and fulfill a dream they have by taking a risk. I want to do the same thing. Maybe the kids and I will just live at the cabin for a summer and try it on for size. Baby steps, right?
Everyone was game for some fun at the session. We laughed and played together and had a great time. All images are film. Enjoy. Pentax 645n, Portra 800 + Canon EOS3, expired HP5.

As my kids get older, I find some of my client base is getting older with them. I photographed a lot of tweens and their families during my fall mini sessions. Tweens can be tough, but fun. They make you work for it. A tickle won’t just give you a genuine smile with this group,…
Tubbs Hill is one of my favorite places to serve as the backdrop to Coeur d’Alene family photography. Honestly, it’s a beautiful setting for any session– check out last week’s blog post to see even more stunning scenery. Idaho is home to some of the most natural beauty in the country, and I have loved…
I want to talk to you today about 5 common film metering mistakes and how to fix them when shooting inside. For film photographers seeking to improve their craft, mastering metering is one of the most critical skills to get right. Unlike digital photography, where exposure can be adjusted in post-processing, film requires a precise…
This was my first session at Carkeek Park this fall. For some reason I have been going to other beaches and parks a lot more. But Carkeek takes my breath away. It is just truly gorgeous, and we practically had the entire beach to ourselves. The Bachhuber’s are my people. They are fun and carefree,…
