1st Place in Rangefinder Magazine’s Best Friends Contest 2016
“I was thrilled to find out that I got first place in Rangefinder Magazine’s Best Friends Contest! My photograph “Dog Days of Summer” appears in the “Best Friends: The Ultimate Animal Photo Contest in the Rangefinder: March 2016 Issue.

When thinking of animal “Best Friends”, my mind instantly jumps to how they’re our ultimate companions, “man’s best friend” and that’s certainly how our #princesshorsedog Ida is! Even though she’s one of those rare dogs that doesn’t like water, she sure wanted to be part of the fun when I took this photo! I knew that my husband and his friend were going to jump really high (they had their own contest going), so I opted for a low-angle to shoot from to accentuate the height. Then when Ida jumped in the frame I saw pure gold, with composition, framing, depth, and movement! Apparently Rangefinder did, too.
For filmies: Shot with my Pentax 645n medium format film camera on Portra 400 film, scanned and developed by Richard Photo Lab.
